32 or 64 bit?
In order to run 64 bit, your PC must have a compatible processor. Most modern PCs are capable of running both versions, older PCs may only be capable of running 32 bit. If unsure, we would advise opting for 32 bit for older computers, we do not stock 32bit version yet but can get to order. We would highly recommend the 64 Bit version but pls check all your hardware if compatiable first as many older scanners and web cams are not 64bit or vista ready yet.

Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Home Basic is the operating system for users with basic computing needs. It is easy to set up, it helps you use your PC more securely and reliably, and like all of the editions of Windows Vista, it is compatible with the widest range of software, devices, and services that you use and trust. Windows Vista Home Basic contains all of the basic features to make your computing experience easier, safer, and more reliable. Even if your existing PC seems to be adequate for basic tasks such as reading e-mail and browsing the web, by upgrading your PC to Windows Vista Home Basic or by purchasing a new PC installed with Windows Vista Home Basic, you will benefit from a better computing experience. (Home Basic edition does not feature the new Aero graphics feature or Windows Media Center.)

Extend your Media Center experience to your Xbox 360 for the ultimate entertainment network.

What is an Operating System?
An OS is the part of your PC that manages the relationship between the hardware and software resources of your computer and you wouldn’t be able to do anything on your PC without one. For instance, if you have more than one program running on your PC, your OS will prioritise multiple tasks and manages your saved files. In short, the OS you choose effects the general day to day working of your PC without you even knowing it. It provides a foundation that determines how your computer functions.

Microsoft are O/S experts. A large proportion of UK PCs are run and organised by a Microsoft Windows edition. Vista has been one of the most long awaited of them all. More than five years after the release of its predecessor, Windows XP, it’s been the longest time span between major releases of Windows.
